What is Beauty?
Ayurveda teaches us that beauty is achieve by learning to live a balanced life and the glow and vibrance that you see on someone face and skin is the true beauty that glows from within.
The ancient Ayurvedic secrets of beautiful hair and skin are revealed in this 4 part workshop. According to the 5,000-year-old philosophy of Ayurveda, the health of our hair and skin is a reflection of our internal balance. You’ll explore the definition of beauty from the perspective of this timeless holistic science, revealing the root cause of common hair and skin disorders as well as their solutions.
This course offers a variety of lifestyle and natural remedies for common hair and skin problems. We’ll introduce you to the traditional lifestyle recommendations and therapeutic methods for correcting the most common imbalances. Healing interventions include both internal and external applications using diet, herbs and nourishing special treatments.
Week One: Introduction
- Topics:
- Introduction to Ayurveda: history, philosophy, and the concept of balance.
- Understanding the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and their influence on skin, hair, and overall appearance.
- Inner beauty as a reflection of digestion (Agni), mental clarity, and emotional balance.
- Activities/Practices:
- Simple self-assessment quiz to discover dosha type.
- Guided journaling on current beauty/self-care habits.
- Daily warm water ritual for digestion.
Week 2 – Nourishment for Radiance
- Topics:
- The role of diet and digestion in beauty: how food choices influence skin and vitality.
- Ayurvedic principles of eating (six tastes, food combining, mindful eating).
- Herbs and spices for glowing skin: turmeric, fennel, coriander, triphala.
- Activities/Practices:
- Create a dosha-specific beauty food plan.
- Try a digestive tea or herbal infusion daily.
- Reflection on how food affects mood, skin, and energy.
Week 3 – External Beauty Rituals
- Topics:
- Daily self-care (Dinacharya) for beauty: cleansing, oil massage, and skincare rituals.
- Natural botanicals and oils for each dosha (e.g., sesame for Vata, coconut for Pitta, sunflower for Kapha).
- The importance of sleep, relaxation, and seasonal adjustments in skincare.
- Activities/Practices:
- Learn and practice Abhyanga (self-oil massage).
- Make a simple herbal face mask or scrub.
- Introduce a calming evening ritual (e.g., warm bath with herbs).
Week 4 – Beauty as a Lifestyle
- Topics:
- Emotional well-being, mindfulness, and their effect on radiance.
- Yoga, meditation, and pranayama for inner glow.
- Sustainability in beauty: natural products, conscious consumption, and long-term balance.
- Activities/Practices:
- Daily 10-minute meditation or breathwork practice.
- Create a personal Ayurvedic beauty routine.
- Closing reflection: how inner harmony has influenced outer glow.
